Peterhead stun Airdrie with late comeback
Peterhead claimed a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Airdrie in a fiery encounter at the Excelsior Stadium.
First-half goals from Tony Cox and Liam Watt, either side of Rory McAlister's penalty, put Airdrie 2-1 up at the break.
Nicky Cadden's penalty looked to have secured all three points for the Diamonds but goals from Ryan Strachan, Jordan Brown and Alexander Gilchrist saw Peterhead extend their unbeaten run in the league to seven games.
Cox opened the scoring after eight minutes but goalkeeper Neil Parry was given a straight red for conceding the penalty which brought McAlister his 13th goal of the campaign.
Despite going a man down, Watt gave the hosts a 2-1 lead before Steven Noble was sent off after fouling Cadden as the last man.
Cadden slotted the penalty home but Strachan and Brown drew Peterhead level with two minutes to go and Gilchrist broke the hearts of the home fans with his last-minute header to give the Blue Toon a gutsy victory.
