Diamonds edge five-goal thriller

Airdrieonians snatched a late victory over bottom side Stranraer in a 3-2 thriller at New Broomfield.

The home side took the lead after 12 minutes when David Sinclair latched onto Jamie Bain's pass and struck a right-footed shot low into the bottom-left corner.

Sinclair turned from hero to villain when he brought down Christopher Aitken in the box. Aitken dispatched the resulting penalty into the top-right corner of the net.

The visitors took the lead 11 minutes into the second half, when Martin Grehan rose to meet Aitken's cross, heading home from six yards.

Airdrieonians levelled after 71 minutes through Lewis Coult, who met Bain's cross with a powerful right-footed strike.

The Diamonds completed the comeback with less than two minutes of normal time remaining. Gregor Buchanan stepped up to fire a right-footed free-kick past David Mitchell in the Stranraer goal to give the hosts their first win of the season.
