Diamonds down to bare bones

Airdrie have a depleted squad ahead of the visit of Raith.

Injuries to Kenny Arthur, Cameron MacDonald and Sean Lynch have been confounded by Kieran Stallard's move to Australia and Michael Hart's decision to take up the offer of a full-time position outside of football.

Diamonds manager Jimmy Boyle said: "Despite being low in numbers it is a game we are looking forward to.

"We had two cracking cup ties against Raith and were unfortunate to go out so hopefully we can get the upper hand this time.

"The teams know each other well so it may take something special to win it and hopefully that will come from an Airdrie player."

Raith are without the suspended Dougie Hill and Allan Walker for the trip.

The pair were sent off in last weekend's 3-1 derby defeat to Dunfermline while goalkeeper David McGurn is still not ready to return following his rib injury.

Manager Grant Murray has told his men to put that disappointment behind them and be ready to face a side out for revenge.

He said: "The Dunfermline game has gone now so we have to show that we are over it and the best way to do that is to defeat Airdrie.

"They will be out to make up for losing the Scottish Cup replay and we know how tough it will be as we needed an injury-time goal at their place to get the replay."
