Blockley back for Airdrie

Airdrie entertain a Partick Thistle side that defeated them 7-0 in their last meeting, with the Diamonds welcoming back midfielder Nathan Blockley from a one-game ban.

Manager Jimmy Boyle is waiting on the fitness news of Gavin Griffin, Jack Boyle and Cameron MacDonald before finalising his side as he looks for a huge improvement from Wednesday's 3-0 reverse at Hamilton Accies.

Boyle said: "We know that we should be competing in matches better and having Nathan available will help with that.

"We have the chance to show that we can do that against a Partick Thistle side that won way too easily against us earlier in the season.

"I am looking for better than we showed against Hamilton and a lot better than the last game against Partick Thistle."

First Division leaders Partick Thistle will be missing Ross Forbes.

Forbes was dismissed in the 2-1 Boxing Day defeat by Morton which marked a first home defeat of the season for Jackie McNamara's side.

The Firhill men will also be missing Stephen O'Donnell and Mark McGuigan with ankle injuries, with McNamara being positive despite the result against the Greenock side.

He said: "There was not that much wrong with our performance especially in the first half when we should have been out of sight.

"We will go to Airdrie in good spirits as a result but we know that they will be out for revenge after our handsome win over them in our last meeting.

"I watched Airdrie against Falkirk last weekend and they played well despite going down 4-1."
