Frampton blow for Dons
AFC Wimbledon will be without defender Andy Frampton when they welcome Shrewsbury to Kingsmeadow on the opening day of the 2014/15 Sky Bet League Two season.
The experienced defender, who made 31 appearances last season for the Dons, suffered a broken ankle during pre-season training and will now miss out for up to eight weeks.
Teenage striker George Oakley will not feature after picking up a hamstring strain during the summer but fellow youngster Jake Nicholson will be available following recovery from a similar problem.
Boss Neil Ardley could hand debuts to as many as eight players with the likes of Jack Smith, Adebayo Akinfenwa, Mark Phillips and Matt Tubbs among those new arrivals looking to make an impact.
Micky Mellon has been a busy bee since being confirmed as Shrewsbury boss in May, bringing in a whopping 16 new faces to help boost their bid for an immediate return to League One,.
Strikers James Collins and Scott Vernon were playing in the Scottish Premiership last term with Hibs and Aberdeen respectively, while Andy Mangan, Andy Robinson, Liam Lawrence and John-Louis Akpa Akpro are other experienced recruits up front.
Mark Ellis arrives from Crewe to bolster the back four and Australian midfielder James Wesolowski is another impressive addition after being named Oldham's player of the season.
"I'm delighted with what we've got and they will be pleased to hear that I'm struggling to find better," declared Mellon. "But that won't stop me keep looking and keep expecting them to get better because that's what you've got to do when you've got to develop a football club."
