Purches On Road To Recovery
Stephen Purches is on the road to recovery following a procedure to remove the plate in his leg.
It's just over a year since Stephen Purches sustained a double leg break against Rochdale, it's only recently that Purches has had the plate, that was holding his leg together has now been removed.
Reflecting on changes at the club since, Purches is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "But a lot has gone on at the club in that time. It was unfortunate that Lee Bradbury went and then Paul Groves and Shaun Brooks came in, but I didn’t even have a training session with them in the short time they were there. Now we’ve moved on again! It is strange looking in from the outside and it shows that things change in football so quickly. In 10 months, the club hasn’t stood still for a second and while I have been a part of it, I haven’t truly been involved in it".
On the injury, Purches is also quoted as saying: "Eventually the plate had to come out, whether it was now or five years down the line. I spoke to the specialist and, with the plate being so long, there was no way I could keep it in and still play. It was better off coming out now as it could mean I get some football in before the end of the season. It is a big step forward because the plate, as big and as weird as it looks, has done a fantastic job getting the bone fixed. Now I have had it removed, I have to build back up a little bit compared with where I was, but I am still pretty much where I want to be in terms of timescale".
