O'Kane's Miracle Recovery
He hobbled off on Friday against Colchester, but was available to star against Scunthorpe on Monday!
Eunan O'Kane looked as if he was crippled on Friday against Colchester United, but was then available to play, and star, against Scunthorpe United on Easter Monday as the Cherries reinforced their promotion credentials.
On his speedy recovery, O'Kane is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "I took a kick to my foot and we think he caught a nerve. I couldn’t feel anything and my foot went numb. Once the feeling had come back, I was having trouble stepping on to the ground. I was on crutches and in an air-cast boot until Sunday morning. I had treatment and Steve and Dave decided the best thing would be to come off the crutches and out of the boot to see how it reacted. I came in on Monday and had a fitness test. Everything was okay and I was able to do everything I needed to. If I had been asked on Friday whether I would be fit for Monday, I would have said no chance so credit to Steve and Dave because they did their job and managed to get me on the pitch. If they give you the option and tell you there is no chance of doing any long-term damage if you play then you have a decision to make. Nine times out of 10, the answer is going to be yes. When you look at our bench, it is a bit scary. You know you might not get back in after one bad performance or if you miss a game through injury. I had to wait for my chance and only got in because Harry Arter was suspended and then had an injury. Harry only got back in because of Shaun MacDonald’s injury".
