League One Review - March 8th
Here's our round up of the midweek action around League One. Brighton & Hove Albion open up a 7-point gap at the top of the table following a 1-0 win over Brentford at Griffin Park. Osborne was kind enough to put past his own keeper in the 74th minute to set the win up for the Seagulls. Brentford 16th, Brighton & Hove Albion 1st. AFC Bournemouth were undone by Exeter City at St James's Park as Cureton (16th min) and Logan (59th min) did enough to ensure that the Cherries went home empty handed. Exeter City 13th, AFC Bournemouth 2nd. Huddersfield Town closed the gap on a top-2 place with a 2-1 win over Rochdale at the Galpharm Stadium. Afobe (25th min) and Roberts (33rd min) pretty much made sure of the win, leaving Jones to net a consolation in the 97th minite. Huddersfield Town 3rd, Rochdale 14th. Peterborough United recorded a single goal win over Notts County at Meadow Lane. lee scored the only goal of the game in the 57th minute. Notts County 17th, Peterborough United 4th. South Coast Club cruised to a 3-0 win over Yeovil Town at St Mary's. A brace from Barnard (15th and 55th mins) was added to by Oxlade-Chamberlain (67th min) to seal the win. South Coast Club 5th, Yeovil Town 19th. Franchise FC also recorded a win with a 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic at Stadium:Franchise. Powell (55th min) and Baldock (96th min) edged out the Addicks. Franchise FC 6th, Charlton Athletic 9th. Leyton Orient continue their excellent run of League form with a 2-0 win over Walsall at Bescot. Kane (43rd min) and Tehoue (56th min) scored the goals to see off the Saddlers. Walsall 21st, Leyton Orient 7th. Carlisle United recorded a 1-0 win over 'neighbiours' Hartlepool United at Brunton Park. Zoko scored the only goal of the game in the 67th minute. Carlisle United 8th, Hartlepool United 11th. Dagenham & Redbridge managed to hoist themselves out of the League One drop-zone with a 1-0 win over Colchester United at Victoria Road. Savage netted the only goal in the 11th minute. Dagenham & Redbridge 20th, Colchester United 10th. Oldham Athletic managed to score their first league goals for years, but still went down 3-2 at home to Sheffield Wednesday at Boundary Park. Beevers got the owls off to a great start in the 3rd minute, with Sedgwick extending the lead 10 minutes later. The Latics levelled before half time as Morais (22nd min) and Stephens (on the stroke of half time) levelled matters going in at the break. Sedgwick scored what proved to be the winner in the 52nd minute. Oldham Athletic 12th, Sheffield Wednesday 15th. Managerless Bristol Rovers gave themselves a morale boosting 1-0 win over Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park. Lines scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute. Tranmere Rovers 18th, Bristol Rovers 22nd. Embattled Plymouth Argyle hoisted themselves off the bottom of League One with a morale boosting win over fellow strugglers Swindon Town, who now prop up the rest of League One. Fallon scored the only goal at Home Park to lift home spirits. Plymouth Argyle 23rd, Swindon Town 24th.
