League One Review - March 5th
Here's our round up of the weekend action in League One. Brighton & Hove Albion left it very late to snatch all 3-points against Carlisle United at Withdean. Taiwo gave the Cumbrians the lead in the 3rd minute, with Murray levelling mid way through the first half. Bennett gave the Seagulls the lead in the 53rd minute with Marshall levelling on the hour mark, before Bennett restored the advantage 3 minutes later. Loanee Arter levelled to make it 3-3 in the 92nd minute, leaving Bridcutt to score the winner a minute later. Brighton & Hove Albion 1st, Carlisle United 12th. AFC Bournemouth are in hot pursuit following a comfortable 3-0 win over Oldham Athletic at Dean Court. Hollands gave the Cherries the lead in the 20th minute, with further goals from Symes (47th min) and Dalla Valle (81st min) to complete the win. AFC Bournemouth 2nd, Oldham Athletic 11th. Huddersfield Town lost ground on the leaders as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Yeovil Town at Huish Park. Williams gave the home side the lead in the 39th minute, with Kay levelling in the 58th minute. Yeovil Town 19th, Huddersfield Town 3rd. Peterborough United brushed Exeter City aside with a 3-0 win at London Road. A Boyd brace (10th & 74th mins) was added to by Mackail-Smith (87th min) to secure the win to keep Posh's promotion ambitions alive. Peterborough United 4th, Exeter City 15th. South Coast Club eased their way past 10-man Colchester United at their Community Stadium. Oxlade-Chamberlain gave the Saints the lead in the 30th minute, with Hammond doubling the advantage in the 50th minute. Colchester United 8th, South Coast Club 5th. Franchise FC now have a 7-point cushion inside the play-offs as they managed to see of Rochdale, at Spotland, with a comprehensive 4-1 win. Vine (15th min), Powell (19th min) and Gleeson on the stroke of half time pretty much secured the points. Dawson netted a consolation for Dale in the 81st minute, leaving Baldock to score an 89th minute penalty to rub salt in to the wounds. Rochdale 13th, Franchise FC 6th. Charlton Athletic look as if they are going to be left in League One for next season as they trail the play-off places by 7-points following a 1-1 draw with Tranmere Rovers at The Valley. Showumni gave Rovers the lead in the 26th minute, with Llera levelling in the 54th minute. Charlton Athletic 7th, Tranmere Rovers 18th. After their FA Cup heroics, Leyton Orient returned to league action to face Notts County at Brisbane Road, securing a 2-0 win in the process. Cox gave the O's an 8th minute lead, with Whing doubling the advantage in the 79th minute. Leyton Orient 9th, Notts County 17th. Hartlepool United made light work of Brentford at Victoria Park as they saw off the Bees with a 3-0 win. A Monkhouse brace (36th & 57th mins) was complemented with a Liddle goal in the 83rd minute. Hartlepool United 10th, Brentford 14th. They might be in administration, but there's plenty of fight left in Plymouth Argyle following their 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Ngala (12th min) and Mason (31st min) gave the Pilgrims a 2-0 lead going in at the break. Coke reduced the arrears in the 61st minute, only to see Mason net again 4 minutes later. Bolasie more or less wrapped up the win with 11 minute to go, leaving Johnson to score a consolation in the 83rd minute. Sheffield Wednesday 16th, Plymouth Argyle 24th. Dagenham & Redbridge boosted their chances to avoiding the drop as they came away with a 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers at The Memorial Ground. Green gave the Daggers the lead on the stroke of half time, with Vindelot securing the win with 7 minutes left on the watch. Bristol Rovers 23rd, Dagenham & Redbridge 21st. Swindon Town (22nd) and Walsall (20th) cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw at The County Ground.
