Is He? Isn't He?
Panto season is in full swing as speculation mounts on a potential return to Dean Court for Eddie Howe.
With the Cherries looking for someone to replace Paul Groves and Shaun Brooks after the pair were dismissed after the defeat at Crawley, speculation as to who might be taking over has been mounting.
Initially we heard that the likes of Eddie Howe, Steve Cotterill, Harry Redknapp, Gary Johnson, Glenn Hoddle and Karl Robinson were all in contention. The only contenders NOT listed appeared to be Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck such was the frenzy in the list of names being reeled off via various social media web sites, with the bookies slashing odds against each candidate as each day passed.
Now though it would appear that the attention is being focussed squarely at Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall, who swapped Dean Court for Turf Moor and Championship side Burnley. This despite Mitchell's best attempt to create a smoke screen by saying that he was already speaking to candidates and he was looking for someone who was in between jobs. Reports in the past 24 hours have suggested otherwise.
It is now being reported that an approach to Burnley has been made, which has been firmly rebuked by the Lancashire side, who have issued a statement saying: "Bournemouth have made an unsolicited and unwanted approach for manager Eddie Howe. Burnley Football Club would like to stress that no agreement has been reached and Eddie Howe is still Burnley manager. No permission has been granted for Bournemouth to speak to Eddie".
A Dean Court return would be a coup and a massive boost for the Cherries who have had a massively indifferent start to the season, winning so far this season.
