Hollands to go under knife

Bournemouth midfielder Danny Hollands is set to undergo surgery next week to cure the hernia problem he sustained in the recent friendly against Fulham. The 24-year-old had an operation on a similar problem in Germany in 2007, which allowed him to make a rapid recovery, but Hollands has opted to get treatment closer to home this time as he was able to get an appointment in Manchester sooner."It's not too bad. Obviously I've got to go and have an operation next Tuesday but luckily enough for me I can still train up until that point," he told Press Association Sport. "Hopefully I'm going to feature in the game (against Derby on Wednesday) and obviously just keep my fitness up until I go and have the operation and then it's a case of doing my rehab and getting back as soon as possible."I think the recovery time is sort of similar (to when I had the operation in Germany), I'm looking to be back training and joining in games within about three weeks."Hollands has never played in the opening league fixture of a season during his time with the Cherries and he now faces a race against time to be fit for the trip to Charlton on August 7.He added: "Obviously no-one likes to be injured but this is my fifth season at Bournemouth so it's a very bad stat to have because it looks like I may miss the first game of the season again. But I won't give up until someone tells me I'm not going to feature."
