Feeney wonder strike sinks Alex
Published : 29 Aug 2009 20:17:00

Feeney struck five minutes into the second half when he picked up the ball 15 yards inside the opposition half and went past Crewe captain Billy Jones before rifling a powerful shot across keeper Adam Legzdins. The 22-year-old Feeney could have had a hat-trick, stabbing wide after another electrifying run and then fired over the top as Bournemouth caught Crewe out as the Alex pushed for a late equaliser. Crewe offered little in attack although their late rally saw Calvin Zola head just wide from a corner and Bournemouth keeper Shwan Jalal was called into action in the five minutes of injury time to beat away a shot from Crewe substitute Byron Moore. Feeney's winner was the first goal Crewe had conceded in five and a half hours of football while Bournemouth have now gone three games without conceding a goal.
