Cook Looking For Settled Period

Steve Cook is looking for a period of stability at Dean Court.

On recent events in his career, Steve Cook is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "When I first came here, I wasn’t expecting to have had three managers in such a short space of time. We have got the right man for the job now and I can only see us going up. It is going to be up to the chairman and board to keep hold of the gaffer because he is very good at his job. Hopefully, we can continue to make progress and keep hold of everybody, players and staff. We were in the relegation zone when he took over. We are unbeaten in 11 games with eight wins and three draws. Clubs always look at managers who are doing well and I am sure our run has not gone unnoticed. It shouldn’t be a problem though and I am sure the gaffer is here for the long haul. I wasn’t given a chance under the previous manager but, now the new gaffer is here, hopefully, I can prove to him why I should be playing. I felt I had a good first season here so was really disappointed to start this season on the bench. It hasn’t gone the way I would have hoped but it is up to me to change that and become a regular. When the new manager came in, he said I would have to wait for my chance. I have played twice at centre-back under him and felt I acquitted myself well. Hopefully, he thought the same. I know he was a ball-playing centre-back so he likes us to play a passing game, which is the way the players want to play. As a squad, we always knew we had the players but he has got us more confident in our own ability. He has given us the belief to play the right way. Before, we didn’t really know what to do with the ball but now we have got more structure and more ideas".
