Cherries pick up first win of the season
14 Aug 2010 - 17:39:06
Bournemouth were the biggest victors of the day in League One as they thrashed Gary Johnson's Peterborough United 5-1 at Dean Court. Brett Pitman scored a hat-trick as the Cherries picked up their first win of the league season.
Notts County suffered a heavy defeat for the second time in League One following last term's promotion. Oldham became the latest side to inflict damage on the Magpies as they won 3-0 at Boundary Park.
County had lost to Huddersfield by the same scoreline last weekend. Meanwhile, the Terriers could only manage a 0-0 home draw with Tranmere Rovers this time around.
Rory Patterson scored a stoppage-time equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw for Plymouth Argyle at home to Carlisle United. The former Coleraine striker cancelled out an Ian Harte strike in the 68th minute for the victors.
It was also 1-1 at Colchester as they shared the points with Sheffield Wednesday, while Brighton and Rochdale also drew - 2-2 at the Withdean Stadium.
Bristol Rovers put their 6-1 midweek League Cup defeat to Oxford United behind them as they collected all three points with a 2-1 home win over Yeovil Town with defender Byron Anthony netting a stoppage-time winner for the Pirates.
The final game of the day was also a 2-1 win, but this time it was the away side that profited. Julian Gray scored a second-half winner for Walsall as they defeated Brentford at Griffin Park.
