Cherries: Symes seeking a repeat performance
IN-FORM strike star Michael Symes is hoping to ensure Cherries maintain their promotion push by repeating his Exeter goalscoring heroics. The former Accrington Stanley frontman has been a key performer since Lee Bradbury took charge, netting four times to help Cherries go 10 games unbeaten. Symes, who increased to eight his tally for the campaign by scoring against Oldham on Saturday, is likely to lead the attack when Cherries visit Exeter City tonight (7.45pm). He has fond memories of facing the Grecians, having scored twice to defeat them at Dean Court in September. Symes told the Echo: I got two against them at home in my first game back from a shoulder injury. Hopefully, I can get another couple tonight. It is good to be scoring goals now and, most importantly, we are still winning games. The first part of the season was frustrating with injuries, but that is behind me now and, hopefully, I can kick on for the rest of the season. There are a lot of points at stake and we can't take our foot off the pedal. Every game is a cup final now and that is the way we have got to look at it. Cherries' attacking resources look strong and Bradbury has a number of players vying for places tonight. As well as Symes, Fulham loan man Lauri Dalla Valle scored on his debut on Saturday and Danny Ings has been an impressive performer since breaking into the first team. Steve Fletcher, Jayden Stockley and Lyle Taylor provide further options for the Cherries boss.
