Cherries: Moles operation is looming

COMEBACK man Mark Molesley has vowed to play on – even though he is facing an operation on a troublesome left foot. The Cherries midfielder returned from three weeks on the sidelines to turn in a workmanlike 87-minute performance during Cherries’ 1-0 win at Accrington Stanley on Saturday. Molesley was referred to a specialist following Cherries’ 2-0 win at Darlington on September 19 and despite coming through the clash at the Crown Ground with no further damage, the 28-year-old revealed an appointment with the surgeon’s knife was looming. Molesley told the Echo: “I think if other players had been fit, I wouldn’t have started but I said I was well enough to train last week and I was happy to start. “I felt it at the end of the game and started to cramp up, but I think I put in a good shift and that was all I could do really. “It’s difficult, because I am going to have to have it operated on eventually. It’s a case of how much I can get through with it like it is at the moment. “I’m taking it each day as it comes, but I think I’m going to need some of the bone shaved off and cleaned up. I had an injection and that seems to have kept it at bay a bit. “But I’m just trying to get as many games in as I can and hopefully it might be okay until the end of the season.” Molesley was an ever-present as Cherries notched seven wins from their opening eight League Two contests this term, his injury lay-off coinciding with a minor blip in form that saw Eddie Howe’s men glean four points from their next four league games. The popular Londoner added: “I’ve come into the game so late and everyone knows how much I enjoy playing for this club. It was very frustrating to all of a sudden have three weeks out, but I understand there are ups and downs in football and hopefully that is behind me now. “I’m just hoping the foot will hold up okay until some of the other players come back and then we can review the situation.”
