Cherries: Mitchell could make funds available for manager
EDDIE Mitchell says funds could be made available to bolster Cherries' playing resources and claims the club's transfer embargo has been loosened. Cherries have been forced to battle through the past month with a threadbare squad after their attempts to strengthen were blocked by the Football League. Transfer activity has been monitored ever since the club came out of administration, with league chiefs turning the screw ahead of last month's emergency loan deadline. But with the transfer window due to re-open at the start of January, chairman Mitchell says the Dean Court outfit could be in a position to delve into the market. Asked by the Daily Echo whether funds would be available or if the club would remain under an embargo, Mitchell replied: We're not embargoed at the moment. He added: First and foremost, we would try to look to get in loan players. I don't see us being in a position to spend fortunes but, if we have the funds at the start of January, then we would offer them. It is very tight at the moment. The directors have made sacrifices and that doesn't just mean me. Jeff Mostyn has been very supportive and we would just have to do what was best for the club at the time. Although Mitchell said the club was far from out of the woods financially, he also said he was more optimistic about the future. Our cash flow shows a positive until the end of the season, he reported. Compared with a lot of other people around the club, I haven't been in football for very long. But I've been in business as long as anybody else and I'm understanding what makes the club tick and what it takes to keep supporters happy and keep the finances under control. That has given me a lot of confidence. It is a big challenge for somebody who hasn't been in football for very long. But I'm 100 per cent confident now. My business has always been in building and development and I'm fearless as regards to those trades. I'm starting to become that way with football.
