Cherries: League in U-turn over extra player (UPDATED)

EDDIE Howe is no longer in a position to bolster Cherries' wafer thin squad - after the Football League withdrew permission for the club to make a second conditional signing. The league originally gave the Dean Court outfit the go-ahead to recruit a further player on Friday, but it appears they have now done a U-turn. Howe had been hoping to boost his injury-hit squad ahead of tomorrow's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash at Northampton Town. Under the league stipulations, the Cherries manager would have been able to bring in a player on an emergency loan or on non-contract terms, providing their wages did not exceed a £500 per week cap. The Echo was tonight unable to obtain a response from the Football League, although Cherries have confirmed that permission to sign a second emergency loan or non-contract player was withdrawn today.
