Cherries: Ings excited by loan deal

DANNY Ings believes he will reap the benefits of time away from Dean Court as he bids to become Cherries' next homegrown hit. The attacking prospect, who signed an initial three-month deal in the summer, was this week handed a contract extension by boss Eddie Howe that ties him to Cherries until at least the end of the season. Ings, who made his senior debut in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Northampton last season, will now be keen to impress and has been given a chance to develop his skills with Dorchester Town. The 18-year-old sealed a month's loan move to the Avenue Stadium at the end of last week. And he made an immediate impact by netting the Magpies' only goal in a 2-1 defeat against Ebbsfleet United, his strike coming after a pass from ex-Cherries defender and newly-installed Dorchester skipper Scott Guyett. Asked what he was hoping to get out of the loan spell, Ings said: Just minutes and games, and I want to help Dorchester out as well because they are struggling a little bit at the moment. Playing for Dorchester was a real experience. It was more physical but I think it will benefit me a lot. Ings, who was plagued by an abdominal injury for much of last season, is the latest in a long line of forwards to roll of the Cherries production line, following the successes of Sam Vokes, Brett Pitman and, most recently, Josh McQuoid. Ings added: It's taken Josh a couple of years but he's got his chance and has taken it really well. Hopefully, when I get my chance, I can take it as well.
