Cherries: Howe delighted for Wiggins
BOSS Eddie Howe is delighted that Cherries have a representative on the full international stage and he believes it will be a great experience for Rhoys Wiggins. Wiggins was drafted into the Wales squad over the weekend and could make his senior debut tonight in Basle. Signed from Norwich City in the summer, the talented left-back has seen his Cherries form rewarded with a call up for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland. With fellow defenders Sam Ricketts and Chris Gunter both suspended, Wales may opt to give Wiggins his opportunity. Howe told the Echo: I think it's reward for Rhoys's consistent displays this season. He's still very young and he's still improving, but we're delighted with his form this season and I think he can only get better. From the club point of view, we're just delighted to have someone involved in the international set-up. Wiggins has plenty of experience in junior internationals, having been capped 16 times at under-21 and under-19 level. ¢ Cherries' under-18s have progressed to the knockout stages of the Puma Youth Alliance Cup. They face an away tie at Northampton Town later this month after a 1-1 draw at Oxford United on Saturday, October 2 secured a top-three spot in their group.
