Cherries: Hollands wants to achieve in 2010
CAPTAIN Danny Hollands has spoken of Cherries' massive transformation during the past 12 months but he is keeping his feet on the ground as his team bid to begin 2010 in style. Cherries made huge strides last year by first avoiding relegation and then mounting a serious challenge at the top of League Two this term. Hollands has been a key man for boss Eddie Howe during that period and the central midfielder is hoping to help bring success to Dean Court. Speaking ahead of today's visit of Northampton Town to Dorset, the former Chelsea reserve team skipper told the Echo: Everyone in the top 10 will feel they have something to play for, just the same as us. There is only one team above us and we've got to make sure every place we go and every time we play we go for the three points. Hopefully we will have something to cheer because we've all worked so hard in the past two years first to avoid relegation and now to be near the top of the league. It would be great for the whole club to achieve something. It's going to be very difficult and there are some tough places to go. We were top and now we are five points off the leaders, so that shows if you lose a couple of games you can move down. We've got to work very hard to make sure we get the results. Hopefully we will have enough because we all want to achieve something. Hollands offered an insight into the way Howe has brought about Cherries' big improvement since he took over as manager. His point is always put across and he never over-does it, explained the central midfielder. He always has the lads' needs on his mind. We had two games in three days and went in for training on Thursday and we didn't have too long a session. He knows what helps the lads and I think that's why the lads have so much respect for him. When he first took over we were near enough bottom of the league. Within a year it's been a great improvement. We're showing this season that we've got a good squad of players and a good manager. The whole club is moving forward.
