Cherries: Addicks keeper's 'stamp' claim

CHARLTON goalkeeper Rob Elliot claimed he was stamped on by an unnamed Cherries player during Saturday's incident-packed 2-2 draw at Dean Court. Elliot pulled off a string of fine saves to thwart Cherries, his exploits during five frantic minutes of injury-time contributing to a remarkable finale to the contest. But speaking during a post-match interview, the 24-year-old said he had been the victim of a stamp, although declined to reveal the identity of the player he claimed had been the guilty party. Elliot said: I've got stud marks on my chest and leg, but that's all part of being a goalkeeper. You have to throw your body on the line. I'm not moaning about the collision. If he had just been going for the ball, then it would have been fair enough. But he got the ball much earlier than he got me. When I came out to block a ball, I wasn't too happy with the way he followed through. Although they had the majority of the chances, they weren't going in so I think they were getting frustrated and things were boiling over. It was up to the ref to try to stop it. I was disappointed at the time but it has gone now. With the passion of the game, you moan at the ref and at the player. But it is all done and dusted now. I had an argument with one of their players but had a joke with him after the game. The days of carrying things on are long gone.
