Camp Aiming To Grab His Chance
Loanee Lee Camp, is hoping to grab his Dean Court opportunity with both hands while he's on the south coast.
Having made a close to 400 appearances, experienced keeper Lee Camp is all set to make his Cherries debut against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
On his opportunity to come south, Camp is quoted as saying in the Bournemouth Evening Echo: "When the opportunity came around to come here, I jumped at it. I had West Brom’s blessing, which was good, and I am excited to be here. It is a progressive club and they had a great run last season to get promoted. They are sitting nicely in the Championship so, hopefully, we can be a good fit for each other and we will have positive results. I know a bit about the manager and I know he was here before. I also know people at Burnley who speak very highly of him. He is the sort of manager I would like to play for and that was a big factor. He is probably looking at me as an old head who can add a bit of experience to the goalkeeping department and, possibly, to the team. I had a couple of behind-closed-doors games at West Brom and we train hard. I feel I am in as good a physical condition as I have been for a long while. I haven’t been playing competitively but I have been around the block enough to know how to keep goal. It has been a frustrating 2013 for me but I have got an opportunity to play and that is what I am concentrating on. You can’t second-guess the future. I have tried to do that before and it doesn’t work. I am just happy to get back playing and, whatever the future holds, it holds".
