    Bond pleased with window

    02 Feb 2007 - 09:28:18

Bournemouth manager Kevin Bond has admitted his relief that the struggling League One outfit retained highly-rated striker James Hayter during the transfer window.

Bond himself drew a blank in the transfer market before deadline day, but keeping Hayter at Dean Court has offset any disappointment for the Cherries chief.

"I'm certainly pleased because there has been much speculation about James Hayter and thankfully nothing materialised," he told the Bournemouth Echo.

"There were one or two tentative enquiries, but I wouldn't want to be specific. Everyone who I wanted to keep, I've kept.

"If possible, I would have liked to have strengthened in the centre-half department, but I've been unable to and we're short of natural width in the side too.

"But I'm not despondent or downhearted in any way."
