Allsop Up For The Challenge

Cherries keeper, Ryan Allsop, speaks about the challenge that lies ahead, not only in the Championship, but also to keep his place as first choice keeper.

Speaking on the Clubs Official Web Site, Ryan Allsop reflects on the difference a year makes in football - going from a Iclandic club, to a successful trial at Leyton Orient and then promotion with AFC Bournemouth to the Championship.

On the transformation, Allsop is quoted as saying: "It’s nice to be settled during the close season and know what’s going on and where I stand – it’s nice to have that security. Twelve months ago I was technically a player in Iceland and without an English club before I got the trial at Orient and fortunately I did well from there. Now I’m looking forward to getting back into it. When you’re away you miss it, so I am looking forward to fully getting back into it and playing some games. I’m always fighting for the jersey with the quality of the keepers we have got at the club. Flav (Darryl Flahavan) and Shwan Jalal are very experienced and they’re good keepers, and Benji (Buchel) will be coming back from injury as well, so will also be looking to challenge for a place. Every day I will be fighting for the number one spot. Having previously been at West Bromwich Albion and Millwall, despite never playing in the second tier, the Birmingham born ‘keeper has witnessed football at this level and claims he knows the tough test he and his team-mates will face. It will be a lot faster and a bit more physical. I’m very much looking forward to playing in that league. I’m expecting it to be a lot tougher and a lot quicker, with better players so the quality of finishing and delivery will be better too. Personally, there are lots of things I can still improve on. My all round game can be improved because obviously I am still young and I’m still learning".
