Darius Charles eases defensive problems at Wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon's defensive problems have been eased by the loan signing of Darius Charles.

The 28-year-old, who has been sidelined for 13 months by ankle and hamstring problems, has joined the Dons on loan from Burton for the rest of the season.

He is set to come straight into the side for Saturday's visit of York in place of Ryan Sweeney, who serves a one-game suspension following his sending off in last weekend's defeat by Morecambe.

Will Nightingale and Karleigh Osborne would have been contenders but are both sidelined by knee injuries. Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa completes a two-match ban.

York boss Jackie McNamara has had to deal with the unwelcome distraction of midfielder Michael Coulson signing a pre-contract agreement with St Johnstone this week.

McNamara was disappointed with the timing of the announcement but insisted he will continue to use Coulson - who misses the trip to London with a groin strain - for the rest of the relegation fight.

Jake Hyde is a doubt after missing training this week with a groin problem while on-loan Middlesbrough striker Bradley Fewster is also pushing for a recall after a hamstring strain.

Captain Russell Penn is back after missing the trip to Dagenham through suspension as the Minstermen desperately seek the win required to boost their increasingly desperate battle to beat the drop.
