Tom Soares is back to boost AFC Wimbledon

Midfielder Tom Soares is available for AFC Wimbledon's Sky Bet League One game at home to Southend.

Soares missed last weekend's goalless draw at Fleetwood with an ankle injury but has trained this week and is expected to return.

He is likely to replace Dannie Bulman, who may have to miss the match as his partner is due to give birth.

Fellow midfielder Chris Whelpdale is out as he regains fitness following a groin injury.

Southend will have defender Jason Demetriou available as the right-back is serving an international one-match suspension so has not joined up with Cyprus.

Top scorer Simon Cox came off the bench to net a late winner in the 3-2 win over Walsall last weekend and is pressing to start again after illness.

Theo Robinson is also in contention after his substitute appearance along with fit-again midfielder Michael Timlin, while on-loan Tottenham youngster Luke Amos made his Shrimpers bow last weekend.

Goalkeeper Mark Oxley continues his recovery from a fractured elbow.
