AFC Wimbledon wait on Paul Robinson ahead of Portsmouth clash

AFC Wimbledon will assess veteran defender Paul Robinson ahead of the visit of Portsmouth.

The 34-year-old had been an ever-present this season but missed the 1-0 defeat at Hartlepool on Good Friday because of injury.

Ryan Sweeney filled in at centre-half and is on stand-by to continue should Robinson not recover.

Manager Neal Ardley could throw Adebayor Akinfenwa back into the starting line-up after the striker came off the bench against Hartlepool following his return from a two-match ban, while forwards Tom Elliott and Ade Azeez are also in contention as the Dons aim to close in on the play-off places.

Pompey are in sixth place, but still have their eye on automatic promotion, and manager Paul Cook could decide to keep faith with the team which thrashed Notts County 4-0.

Paul Jones got the nod to start in goal, with first-choice keeper Ryan Fulton called up to the Scotland Under-21 squad. Defender Matt Clarke and forward Adam McGurk both came into the XI against County, while midfielder Gary Roberts returned from suspension.

Striker Conor Wilkinson is also away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland's Under-21s, and is set to join up with his new club for the first time after Easter following a loan move from Bolton.

Veteran goalkeeper Brian Murphy continues his recovery from a calf injury, having not featured since the FA Cup win over Ipswich in mid-January.
