Alexander poised for Dons bow

AFC Wimbledon will add Gary Alexander to their squad for the clash with Burton.

Boss Neal Ardley brought in Alexander from Crawley on deadline day after letting fellow striker Byron Harrison join Cheltenham.

Midfielder Harry Pell will also be in contention for a place in the squad after joining for an undisclosed fee from Hereford earlier this week.

On-loan West Ham forward Paul McCallum needs a fitness check having left Kingsmeadow on crutches after the 2-2 draw against Port Vale last Thursday night.

An X-ray later confirmed he had not broken a bone in his foot and he could be fit.

Defender Will Antwi (hip) also needs a fitness test but full-back Curtis Osano (calf) and striker Charlie Strutton (knee) are not quite ready.

New loan signings Michael Symes and Alex McDonald could be included in the Burton squad for the trip.

Leyton Orient striker Symes has moved to the Pirelli Stadium until the end of the season while Burnley forward McDonald has joined the npower League Two promotion chasers on an initial month-long deal.

Nathan Stanton will continue to be monitored after the centre-half missed the 1-1 draw at Oxford on Tuesday night with a knock sustained in training.

However, even if he is fit, Zander Diamond and recent signing Ian Sharps are likely to continue their partnership at the heart of the back four.

Defenders Aaron Webster and Marcus Holness, midfielders John McGrath, Jimmy Phillips and Jack Dyer and striker Billy Kee are also options for boss Gary Rowett should he wish to make any changes to his starting line-up.
