A Jolley good time for Dons

In-form striker Christian Jolley struck twice in three minutes to send AFC Wimbledon up to fourth in League Two with a 3-1 win over Gillingham.

The 23-year-old former Kingstonian forward netted the winner against Bradford last weekend and continued his red-hot streak with two goals in the opening 12 minutes against the Gills.

Jolley put the Dons ahead on 10 minutes and doubled the lead with his fourth goal of the season, before Jack Midson struck and Charlie Lee hit a second-half consolation.

Jolley broke the deadlock early on after capitalising on a slip by veteran Gills defender Matt Lawrence to slot home.

Just two minutes later he doubled the home side's advantage, powerfully heading in from Sam Hatton's inviting cross.

And it wasn't long the visitors were three down. This time, right back Matt Fish was to blame, as his attempted clearance fell at the feet of Midson, who made no mistake from six yards out.

Gillingham were much improved after the break, and Danny Kedwell should have headed a consolation goal against his former club.

Midfielder Charlie Lee fired home from 25 yards on 67 minutes to reduce the deficit, before Luke Rooney and debutant Jo Kuffour also threatened for the visitors.
