Adebayo Azeez fires AFC Wimbledon to win over Exeter City

Adebayo Azeez's header eight minutes from time gave AFC Wimbledon their first home win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Exeter.

The Dons took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Matt Oakley inadvertently flicked a Jon Meades long throw-in into the path of George Francomb, who hooked the ball past Bobby Olejnik.

Ryan Harley drew Exeter level within five minutes, showing great composure to stroke home a left-footed shot following Will Hoskins' deft touch from Oakley's cross.

The visitors gradually grew into the game and thought they had their second when Barry Fuller glanced another Oakley centre into his own net, only for the referee to rule that Troy Brown had fouled the Wimbledon captain.

It took 22 minutes of a turgid second period for either side to create a chance of note, with Dons winger Andy Barcham volleying over from just inside the penalty area.

Wimbledon amassed over a dozen corners as they monopolised possession but had to wait until the 82nd minute for substitute Lyle Taylor to whip in a vicious cross to Azeez for the winner.
