Northampton come from behind to earn draw at AFC Wimbledon

Northampton recorded their second successive 1-1 draw as John-Joe O'Toole's first-half header earned them a point away to Wimbledon.

Three days since their score draw with Leyton Orient, which saw both goals in stoppage time, Town were second best in the opening exchanges and fell behind after 23 minutes as Zander Diamond misjudged a bouncing ball, allowing the enthusiastic Adebayo Azeez to open the scoring.

A long series of corners allowed the Cobblers back in as they grew in confidence and David Buchanan's cross was met by O'Toole to head into the net on 35 minutes.

Azeez continued to dominate after the restart and missed a volley from close range. Adam Smith kept out a bullet header from debutant Semi Ajayi and Chris Wilder's men did well to weather the storm.

However, they contributed little going forward and neither team could press their claim for all three points, Sean Rigg's point-blank sliding volley over the Northampton bar the best effort of the second half.
