Wiggins was close to a permanent Cherries deal

RHOYS Wiggins put the finishing touches to his Cherries loan deal and then revealed how he had been close to securing a permanent move to Dean Court.[LNB] Wiggins trained with Eddie Howe's squad yesterday and is almost certain to start when Cherries face League Two rivals Crewe Alexandra today (3pm).[LNB] The 22-year-old Norwich City defender will stay for a maximum of 28 days after the Football League agreed to temporarily ease Cherries' transfer embargo.[LNB] Cherries boss Howe swooped for Wiggins for a second time after he played a starring role in last season's Great Escape following a loan move from Crystal Palace.[LNB] And but for Cherries' transfer ban, the Wales under-21 international could have made his move to Dorset permanent before he joined the Canaries on a two-year deal last summer.[LNB] Wiggins, who is nicknamed Rolls' by his Cherries team-mates, told the Daily Echo: I really enjoyed my first spell here and spoke to Eddie quite a few times during the summer about staying.[LNB] Bournemouth were definitely at the top end of my list but it was difficult for them. Norwich then came in for me so I decided to go there.[LNB] I've spoken to a few of the lads here and I know the embargo is frustrating for them as well. But they are all digging in even though a lot of them are playing out of position. The embargo is having an effect on people but they are dealing with it and getting results so you can't argue.[LNB] Wiggins, who made 13 appearances for Cherries last season, has played just three times in cup competitions for Norwich since being signed by former boss Bryan Gunn in July.[LNB] And although his second spell with Cherries is likely to be brief, his stay will take in no fewer than seven games as Howe's men look to get their promotion push back on track.[LNB] I want to help us win all seven! said Wiggins. Considering they haven't been able to strengthen their squad, they have done ever so well this season. Hopefully, I can play a part in helping them finish in one of the promotion places.[LNB] I enjoyed the first training session and it was nice to be among the lads again. They are doing well so it will be nice to be a part of it.[LNB] I have been following their results this season and it's been good to see my friends doing so well. Brett (Pitman) has continued from where he left off and has kept scoring goals.[LNB] We were 10 points adrift when I arrived last season and it was a brilliant achievement to stay up. The team were magnificent and, hopefully, we can achieve something again this season.[LNB]
