We Won't Take Foot Off The Gas - Francis

Mr Consistent at right back, Simon Francis insists that the Cherries are not about to let up in their quest for end of season honours.

With just three matches left of the Cherries season, with the Club sitting in second place in the League One table ahead of the weekend games, Simon Francis insists that the squad is focussed on the job in hand and are not about to take the foot off the gas.

Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Francis is quoted as saying: "Looking at the fixtures on paper, I couldn’t see anything less than a home win for Sheffield United and the same for Doncaster. But this league is wide open this season and that was proven on Tuesday. We always look at the teams we are playing and do our research. We are not going into the games thinking ‘they are mid-table with not really a lot to play for – they are safe and can’t make the play-offs – so we are the only ones that have got something to play for and it will be an easy win for us’. There is no way we are going to take our foot off the gas and think like that. We know that Shrewsbury are a good team and that they have got good individual players. With Carlisle’s result on Tuesday, they will be coming to Bournemouth next Saturday with a bit of confidence. All we can do is try to do our best, do what we have been doing for the past few weeks and get the right result. Losing five on the bounce was certainly a bit of a dark time for us. We were top and it was almost like that was a bit of bad luck for us because we then suddenly lost a few games and found ourselves back in the play-offs and outside the play-offs. To put together a run again to get ourselves back up there just proves the quality we have in the squad. I just hope we can continue that until the end of the season and get our rewards".
