Tindall: Cherries have come a long way since my birthday

A YEAR ago, Jason Tindall probably could have pleaded a good case for being guilty by association.[LNB] A year on and the evidence for his acquittal is compelling.[LNB] Alongside his former team-mate Eddie Howe, his new managerial partner in crime, Cherries' assistant boss has gone from zero to hero.[LNB] Tindall's stock plummeted during Jimmy Quinn's ill-fated reign, his reputation and credentials tarnished as Cherries hit rock-bottom.[LNB] Reviled by some supporters, Tindall doubtless feared for his own future after Quinn had been shown the door on New Year's Eve.[LNB] But after the pantomime season had closed with Quinn's dismissal, the fairytale of Dean Court was about to start for Tindall when Howe came calling.[LNB] Sacked along with Kevin Bond just days before Quinn had been unveiled in September, Howe asked Tindall to stay on as his right-hand man after he had been tasked with rescuing Cherries from the threat of relegation.[LNB] Since then, the pair have enjoyed unprecedented success, a far cry from 12 months ago when Tindall's 31st birthday celebrations had been more like a wake.[LNB] It wasn't the best weekend, recalls Tindall. We lost 3-0 at Accrington and it was a difficult time for the club. It wasn't a nice experience on a personal level either.[LNB] Just 12 months on, Tindall has managed to repair his reputation and is now part of one of the most up-and-coming management teams in the country, emphasised by Peterborough's approach for the pair this week.[LNB] He said: Things change so quickly in football which is why you've got to keep your feet on the ground. The interest was flattering and it's good that people are noticing the job that is being done here.[LNB] A lot of hard work has gone into getting us where we are and a lot of people deserve recognition. It's been a team effort by the players, the staff, the board and the supporters.[LNB] On a personal level, I'm delighted with how things have progressed in the past year and proud of what has been achieved in difficult circumstances.[LNB] A lot has happened to me and it makes you better and stronger. You can learn from it, come out fighting and bounce back a better person. Hopefully, I've done that.[LNB] While Howe has understandably taken the majority of the credit, he is quick to share the plaudits with Tindall and is adamant they come as a pair.[LNB] Tindall said: The approach from Peterborough was unexpected but we both felt we had a job to do here. We are less than a year into what we have set out to do.[LNB] We won't get side-tracked or start believing in our own publicity. If you do, you can lose focus. We had an opportunity to move on but decided to stay and that's the end of it now.[LNB] We have got ourselves into a good position and won't stop working hard or take our eye off the ball. Success doesn't come without hard work and we are determined to bring success and stability to the club.[LNB] We want to address the whole structure of the footballing side, not just the first team. We are striving to put things in place to make the club stronger.[LNB] Whether we eventually leave or get the boot, we will want to make sure we have left something good behind. We're both totally committed and focused on the job.[LNB]
