Support Role For Hughes?

At the ripe old age (!) of 34, Richard Hughes is preparing for life back in the second teir of English football.

On his role at Dean Court, playing his part as a support role, Richard Hughes, is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "To play 50 or 60 games is not going to bring out the best in me. The way I was used last season was correct and it brought out some performances I was quite pleased with. For me, it is tactical as much as physical. Clearly, I want to play but if there are better players equipped for certain roles, I am experienced and wise enough to know that is more beneficial for the team. In that respect, I am happy to play the roles I am best at rather than just play 90 minutes for the sake of it. It is okay for me to think like that because of the stage I am at in my career and who I am playing for. The team always comes first. It is natural when you are younger to think more selfishly and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. I know the manager will call on me when he needs me and that suits us both".
