Sheringham Set Back + Injury Update

Striker Charlie Sheringham has experienced a minor set back as he bids to recover from injury.

Having fractured a bone in a foot during the Brentford match on Boxing Day last year, Charlie Sheringham has experienced a minor as he bids to regain fitness ahead of the new season.

Cherries physio, Steve Hard, is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying on the 24-year-old ankle irritation: "When we have tried to run him, he has experienced a few aches. He had a problem with one of his toes in May and that has cleared. Now he is getting a bit of pain in his heel. We had him re-scanned yesterday and the bone in his foot has fully healed and is fine. It is just a small irritation with his heel. He saw someone last week for a biomechanical assessment and is going to see them again for a review. It is a bit of a setback because we wanted to try to push him on. These things happen when players have been out for so long".

Stephen Purches is still on course to return to action towards the end of the calendar year following his double leg break.

Steve Hard is hoping that Wes Fogden can be back playing 2 months earlier than hoped following the shoulder injury he sustained last season.
