Purches Takes Development Squad

Stephen Purches has been given the task of managing the Cherries Development Squad.

Following a lengthy spell out injured, Stephen Purches has been awarded the combined role of player-coach, where he's going to be coaching the Cherries Development Squad.

On his new role, Purches, is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "I have been given the opportunity to take on the development squad, as well as still combining it with the playing side of things. It will give me an opportunity to develop myself and develop how I am going to coach, with all the good coaches around me at the club as well as putting my own twist on it. I can also keep myself fit as I go, so I have got the best of both worlds in that respect. Coaching is the closest you can get to playing. While I have been injured and out for a long time, I have been keeping my coaching badges up to date. I have also been getting the experience of being out there coaching because, unless you are doing it, you don’t learn. At the back end of last season, I enjoyed that side of things. The opportunity was offered to me and it was too good to turn down".
