Pugh Set To Leave

It's looking certain that Marc Pugh is set to leave Dean Court.

Despite efforts to put get agreement for Marc Pugh to sign a new deal to remain at Dean Court, the 25-year-old has opted not to sign, making him available for transfer. If he were to go past the January window, he could walk for nothing, so the club are, sensibly, open to offers for the talented midfielder.

Groves has been quoted as saying on the situation: "We are in a situation now where Marc could leave in a year’s time for absolutely nothing, so it would make sense for us to listen to offers. That said, any bid would have to be of significant value to the club for us to even entertain the idea of letting him go. We haven’t received any formal offers yet for Marc but we are sure there are a number of clubs who have him on their radar.  had a long conversation with Marc who was honest and up front about his decision. He told us he wants to keep his options open at this stage in his career and he is perfectly entitled to do that. Marc is the type of character who you can really rely on. He has promised us that he will be giving 100 per cent in pre-season. If he is still with us on the first day of the season, then I wouldn’t have any hesitations about putting him in the squad".

Following news that Pugh is set to leave, Chairman Eddie Mitchell has come out to publically state that Pugh is worth a million: "They have got to come up with a good offer and a good offer is what he is worth to us over the next year. We have got to consider whether he stays with us next season and walks away for nothing, or if we get a fee for him now. I think he is worth £1million to us – I honestly do think that. If we wanted another player of his calibre, we would have to spend around that figure, so he is worth that to us next season".
