Pitman fires broadside at Cherries boo boys

BRETT Pitman has fired a parting shot at the Dean Court boo boys.[LNB] Pitman came in for some fierce criticism during Jimmy Quinn's dark days at the helm and also took his fair share of stick under Kevin Bond.[LNB] The striker, who was something of an enigma during his early days, was used sparingly by both managers, often coming off the bench.[LNB] Pitman has revealed one of the lowest points of his career came when he was booed off during a 1-0 defeat by Macclesfield in Quinn's first home game in charge in September 2008.[LNB] Speaking to the Daily Echo last night, Pitman said: The majority of our supporters were fantastic with me from the day I made my debut. But there was also a minority that weren't and I will never forget that.[LNB] I don't think some of the other lads will forget how they treated me and how they treated a couple of the other players.[LNB] I would like to think that I have made the ones that booed eat their words over the past 20 months.[LNB] Maybe when they look back, they might think they were wrong to do it in the first place. They didn't know what was going on behind the scenes.[LNB] It's not nice for any player to get booed and it's not nice for a young player. I was only 20 at the time.[LNB] Warren Cummings had it last season and look at the service he has given the club. Some people seem to forget and are far too quick to criticise.[LNB] They ought to stop and think about the consequences. People need to remember that players might be young or are playing with injuries.[LNB] I would say 99.5 per cent of the supporters were great with me but it was the others that let everyone down. Fortunately, since we have been winning, it has gone away, which is ironic.[LNB] Pitman also fired a broadside at the footballing pundits who claimed he was greedy for turning down a move to Premier League Blackpool.[LNB] He added: I read and heard a few things and wasn't too fussed to be honest.[LNB] I know the truth and so do the people that matter. Eddie (Howe) and the Bristol City manager both knew the truth and that is all that matters. People wrote and said things but they were off the mark.[LNB] Asked what had tipped the balance between joining Premier League Blackpool and Championship Bristol City, Pitman replied: A lot of different factors.[LNB] Bristol City made me feel really wanted. Their manager has been fantastic with me and has made me feel welcome and helped me settle in.[LNB] I spoke to Ian Holloway who was also fantastic. Unfortunately, maybe other things up there didn't make me feel the same way.[LNB]
