Mitchell: Cherries can be pick of clubs

Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell is convinced that the Cherries are ready top take over as the dominant club on the south coast. Mitchell believes the Dorset outfit are ready to leave Portsmouth and Southampton, their percieved bigger neighbours, in their shadow. In an interview with the Bournemouth Daily Echo, Mitchell said: "I would like to think we could creep along and become top dogs on the south coast. "We have got a great set up here and the team and the feel-good factor around the club is going to propel us up with them." The Cherries host Portsmouth in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night before heading to St Mary's to meet the Saints in the first round of the Carling Cup on August 10.
