Steve Lovell has committed his immediate future to AFC Bournemouth. Steve Lovell has signed a deal to keep him at Dean Court for at least another year. The Cherries striker is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "I think the club is going places. I was happy to be offered a new contract and delighted to sign. Although I had a difficult season, it was great to get back and to be involved in the play-offs. I worked hard to get back and felt I had been improving with every game. I was disappointed the season had to end when it did. It was always going to take a few months to get back to some decent form because I had been out for a year. But I was still quite pleased with how quickly things turned out in the end. The ankle has been really good. I still get a few aches and pains but that is to be expected. In a way, being thrown straight back into the first team probably helped me get my fitness back a bit quicker. For the first time in my career, I am looking forward to pre-season. I will be working hard on all aspects of my fitness during the close season". Lee Bradbury is quoted as saying: "In the last few games, Steve started to show what he was about. He got back his sharpness, fitness and confidence and showed what he was capable of. Having played with Steve, I know what a good player he is and that was the reason I was very keen to keep him here. It is a big boost. It is going to be a big season for Steve because there will be a lot of expectation on his shoulders. But he is experienced enough to cope with that pressure".
