Bournemouth striker Steve Lovell is ready to step up his training ahead of the Cherries campaign in League One. Lovell, the half-brother of Cherries boss Eddie Howe, has returned to the club where he started his career 12 years ago. The 29-year-old was released from club Partick Thistle in March and underwent surgery at the end of last season to cure a long-standing ankle problem. The striker was one of four players who had to sit out the 4-0 friendly defeat to Tottenham at Dean Court on Saturday along with Ryan Garry, Tim Stephenson and Danny Ings. Cherries boss Eddie Howe told the Daily Echo: "Steve is recovering from his ankle operation. He is coming along but we don't expect to see him (in games) until towards the end of pre-season. "He has been out for a period of time and had quite a lot done to his ankle so we will have to step him up gradually. We don't want to push him too early. "Missing games and training during pre-season is going to put them behind so we will have to assess them individually when they return to see how they are."
