Let Others Worry

With the final few matches due to be played out, Tommy Elphick comes out with a few prophetic words about the Cherries rivals.

With our rivals playing mid week, while the Cherries rest for the weekend, the pressure is on them to worry about AFC Bournemouth, says Tommy Elphick.

Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, the influential central defender is quoted as saying: "If we win our final three games, I believe we will finish in the top two,” said Elphick. “At the moment, our changing room is so confident and it just seems as if everything is falling for us in terms of results. We have just got to keep a level head, stop looking around at others and concentrate on ourselves. I know it is easier said than done. The lads come in straight after games and look at other results. It is an exciting time to be at the club so we have got to make the most of it because there are a lot more downs than ups in football. We have got to grasp this opportunity because it can be life-changing. If we were to go up, supporters would get to see some fantastic grounds and we would get to play some top players. That is what we all want. But we have got to keep grounded because hard work and the togetherness of the changing room is what have got us to where we are now. I would rather have points on the board than games in hand and I think that is starting to show now. Sheffield United play Brentford next week so someone is going to drop points there. Some of the other teams are playing each other as well. They are all playing catch-up. If they win, the first thing they do is look for our result to see if they have made up any ground. We just need to let them worry about us and let them worry whether we are going to drop points. We just need to keep plugging away and try to stretch our lead".
