League One Review - Sept 8th

Here's our round up of the weekend action around League One.

Notts County lifted themselves up to top-spot with a 3-2 win over Shrewsbury Town at Meadow Lane. Zoko got County off the mark with a 57th minute goal, which saw Richards (61st min pen) and Grandison (62nd min) turn the game on its' head. J Hughes levelled 2 minutes later leaving L Hughes to score the winner with 3 minutes left on the watch. Notts County 1st, Shrewsbury Town 16th.

AFC Bournemouth managed to clock up their first win of the new season with a single Hughes (35th) min goal over Yeovil Town at Huish Park. Yeovil Town 3rd, AFC Bournemouth 15th.

Scunthorpe United couldn't hold on against 9-man Sheffield United at Glanford Park to claim their first win, but did finish with a draw. Clarke gave Scunny the lead on the hour, with Collins levelling in the 83rd minute. Scunthorpe United 24th, Sheffield United 4th.

Brentford managed to snatch a last gasp winner against Colchester United as El Alagui scored the only goal in the 88th minute at Griffin Park. Brentford 6th, Colchester United 21st.

A local derby at Gigg Lane saw Bury loose out against Preston North End as Sodje (30th min) and Candsell-Sherriff (66th min) sealed a win before Skarz net a consolation in the 93rd minute. Bury 23rd, Preston North End 7th.

Walsall are having a good start to the season, enhanced with a 1-0 win over Franchise FC at Bescot. Holden scored the only goal of the season in the 17th minute. Walsall 9th, Franchise FC 10th.

Swindon Town suffered a reverse against Leyton Orient at the County Ground as Cook scored the only goal of the game in the 59th minute to give the O's their first points of the season. Swindon Town 11th, Leyton Orient 20th.

Carlisle United managed to claim a 2-1 win against Hartlepool United at Victoria Park. Poole gave 'Pool the lead in the 40th minute, only to see Cadamarteri level in the 76th minute and Robson scoring the winner in the 85th minute. Hartlepool United 17th, Carlisle United 12th.

The only other game played saw Crewe Alexandra (13th) and Tranmere Rovers (2nd) finish 0-0.

The game betweem Doncaster Rovers (14th) and Oldham Athletic (18th) was called off due to international call-ups.

Playing on Sunday are Crawley Town (5th) v Portsmouth (22nd) and Coventry City (19th) and Stevenage Borough (8th).
