League One Review - Feb 26th
Here's the round up of the weekend action around League One. Leaders Brighton & Hove Albion suffered a minor set back in their quest for the League One title as Franchise FC inflicted their 5th defeat of the season at Stadium:Franchise. Powell scored the only goal of the game in the 27th minute to maintain the Franchise holders push for a play-off place. Franchise FC 6th, Brighton & Hove Albion 1st. AFC Bournemouth maintained their push for automatic promotion with a 2-1 win over struggling Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Road. Nurse gave the Daggers the lead 3 minutes after the restart, only to see Ings level in the 56th minute and Robinson score the winner with 2 minutes left on the clock. Dagenham & Redbridge 23rd, AFC Bournemouth 2nd. Huddersfield Town let a winning position slip through their fingers as masters of the comeback, Leyton Orient, snatched a point at the Galpharm Stadium. Rhodes (3rd min) and Novak (49th min) gave the home side a 2-goal advantage, only to see Kane (73rd min) and Smith (88th min) come back to claim a point. Huddersfield Town 3rd, Leyton Orient 11th. After a relatively lean spell of only scoring a goal or two a game, Peterborough United went a bit mad at Boundary Park by knocking a mere 5-goals past Oldham Athletic. Rowe (49th min), Ball (52nd min), Zakuani (61st min) and Mackail-Smith (68th & 83rd mins) set up the 5-0 rout. Oldham Athletic 8th, Peterborough United 4th. South Coast Club eased their way to a convincing 4-1 win over Swindon Town at St Mary's. Lallana got the Hampshire side off the mark in the 15th minute, with Ritchie levelling 9 minutes after the re-start. Lambert restored the home sides advantage 6 minutes later, which was added to by Jaidi a minute later and Barnard in the 92nd minute. South Coast Club 5th, Swindon Town 20th. They might have games in hand on the teams above them, but Charlton Athletic aren't exactly setting the world alight in their push for a place in the end of season play-offs. Notts County were the latest to knock them off course with a 1-0 win over their SE London visitors at Meadow Lane. Bishop scored the only goal of the game in the 49th minute. Notts County 17th, Charlton Athletic 7th. Plymouth Argyle made up some ground following their points deduction with a 2-1 win over Colchester United at Home Park. Fallon gave Argyle the lead in the 8th minute only to see Zubar put past his own keeper in the 41st minute to level matters. A Bolasie penalty in the 74th minute sealed the win, leaving the Pilgrims 5-points off safety. Plymouth Argyle 24th, Colchester United 10th. Hartlepool United made the long trip from the north east to the south west to face Exeter City, coming away with a 2-1 win for their efforts. A Monkhouse brace in the 21st and 29th minutes only drew a response from Cureton in the 59th minute. Exeter City 15th, Hartlepool United 12th. Sheffield Wednesday recorded their first win for their new manager, overcoming Carlisle United at Brunton Park. Miller scored the only goal of the game int he 20th minute. Carlisle United 13th, Sheffield Wednesday 16th. Brentford compounded the relegation woes for Bristol Rovers with a single goal win at Griffin Park. An Alexander penalty in the 20th minute was enough to claim all 3-points. Brentford 14th, Bristol Rovers 22nd. Yeovil Town eased their relegation worries over fellow strugglers Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park. Johnson scored the only goal of the game in the 77th minute. Tranmere Rovers 18th, Yeovil Town 19th. The only other game in League One finished 0-0 betweem Walsall (21st) and Rochdale (9th) at Bescot.
