League One Review - April 9th

Here's our take on the mid week action around League One as the final few matches are played out.

Leaders Doncaster Rovers slipped up at home for the 7th time this season as Carlisle United recorded an unexpected away win at the Keepmoat Stadium. A brace from Noble in the 35th and 86th minutes pretty much ensured the Cumbrians place in the third tier for next season. Doncaster Rovers 1st, Carlisle United 17th.

Sheffield United also slipped up at home. Their 4th home defeat of the season came at the hands of Crawley Town, who recorded their 9th away win of the campaign. Goals from Clarke (77th min) and Hayes (84th min) left the majority of the 18000 crowd totally frustrated. Sheffield United 5th, Crawley Town 11th.

Franchise FC still harbour slim hopes of making the play-offs, boosted with a 2-0 win over Swindon Town at Stadium:Franchise. Goals from Doumbe (58th min) and Lowe (89th min) left the Robins looking over their shoulders with one less game in hand to play with. Franchise FC 9th, Swindon Town 6th.

Preston North End claimed local bragging rights over struggling Oldham Athletic at Deepdale as they recorded a 2-0 home win. A Wroe penalty (73rd min) and a late strike from Hayhurst (93rd min) sealed victory, with the Latics deep in trouble with just one game in hand over their rivals at the foot of the table. Preston North End 15th, Oldham Athletic 20th.
