The second automatic promotion place swung back in Sheffield Wednesday's favour as they managed to bag a 2-1 win over Brentford at Griffin Park. Treacy gave the Owls the lead in the 38th minute, with a Donaldson penalty levelling scores in the 62nd minute. The travelling Owls were celebrating in the end when Llera scored what proved to be the winner 4 minutes later. Brentford 9th, Sheffield Wednesday 2nd.
Sheffield United are still coming to terms with the loss of their striker, Evans, so late in the season, being pegged to a 2-2 draw against Stevenage Borough at Bramhall Lane. Byrom (31st min) and Laird (47th min) gave Borough an unlikely lead, but saw that lead evaporate as Cresswell (63rd min) and Lowton (85th min) level matters. Franchise FC appear to be finishing the regular season strongly as the play-offs loom following a 2-1 win over already relegated Rochdale at Spotland. O'Shea (3rd min) and Bowditch (58th min) gave the Franchise Holders a 2-goal lead, with Akpa Akpro netting a consolation in the 85th minute. Rochdale 24th, Franchise FC 4th.
Are Huddersfield Town likely to succeed in the play-offs this season, may be not given their recent poor form which wasn't helped as Walsall claimed League One survivial with a 1-1 draw at Bescot. Novak gave the Terrier the lead in the 2nd minute, with Cuvelier levelling for the Saddlers in the 49th minute. Walsall 19th, Huddersfield Town 5th.
Notts County had to come from behind to keep their play-off hopes alive going in to the last game, but at the same time put the final nail in the coffin for Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park. Bloomfield gave the Chairboys a great start with a 1st minute opener, with Bogdanovic levelling 2 minutes later. Basey restored the advantage with a 17th minute penalty, only to see Judge level 5 minutes before the break. Beavon gave the Chairboys hope (again) in the 68th minute, but those hopes evaporated as Adebola (89th min) and Judge with his secnd (93rd min) put the home side out of their misery. Wycombe Wanderers 21st, Notts County 7th.
Carlisle United kept up the pressure for the final play-off place with a fine 4-1 over Exeter City, which relegated the Devon side. Zoko got the Cumbrians off the mark in the 34th minute, with Sercombe levelling a minute later. The Grecians stay in League One was terminated as Cook (42nd min), Noble (51st min) and Zoko (77th min) sealed their fate and a return to League Two. Carlisle United 8th, Exeter City 23rd.
Colchester United rounded off their home campaign in fine style with a 4-2 win over Tranmere Rovers at their Community Stadium. Henderson and Eastman gave the Essex side a 2-goal lead with strikes in the 4th and 46th minutes. Wallace pulled one back in the 52nd minute. A Goodison own goal in the 66th minute was met with a Cassidy goal in the 72nd minute leaving Sears to finish the scoring off in the 84th minute. Colchester United 10th, Tranmere Rovers 13th.
Hartlepool United rounded off their home campaign against Leyton Orient with a 2-1 win at Victoria Road. Sweeney gave Pools the lead in the 23rd minute, with the O's levelling through Campbell-Ryce levelling 11 minutes later. Noble sealed the home win with a strike in the 73rd minute. Despite the defeat, the east London side are safe in League One for another season given results elsewhere. Hartlepool United 11th, Leyton Orient 20th.
Scunthorpe United and AFC Bournemouth played out an end of season 1-1 draw at Glanford Park. McDermott gave the Cherries the lead in the 42nd minute, only to see Thompson level with 11 minutes to go. Scunthorpe United 17th, AFC Bournemouth 14th.
Chesterfield saw their hopes evaporate away in Somerset against Yeovil Town at Huish Park. Bowery gave the Spirites the lead in the 8th minute, with Blizzard levelling in the 26th minute. Whitaker raised the visitors hopes again only to see those hopes disappear as Agard (73rd min) and Williams (80th min) confined the Spirites to League Two after one year in the 3rd tier. Yeovil Town 16th, Chesterfield 22nd.
The only other game played in League One saw Bury (12th) and Oldham Athletic (18th) play out a 0-0 draw at Gigg Lane.
