AFC Bournemouth are in hot pursuit of top spot following an emphatic 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town at the New Meadow after Town failed, again, to keep a clean sheet in the opening few minutes. Pitman netted a fine brace in the 5th and 53rd minutes, which was added to when Grandison put past his own keeper in the 62nd minute. Brentford had to come from behind against a spirited Portsmouth side to maintain their push at the top. Wright-Phillips netted for the Bees in the 21st minute, which prompted Connolly to level 5 minutes later. Cooper gave Pompey the lead in the 58th minute, only to see Wright-Phillips level in the 85th minute and Donaldson score the winner a minute later! Leyton Orient are well and truely in there for a top-6 finish as they managed to secure a 2-0 win over Franchise FC, which placed a massive dent in the Franchise holders hopes of a play-off place. Having led League One for most the season, Tranmere Rovers are now looking as if they are going to miss out on a play-off place. Their cause wasn't helped as Hartlepool United managed to grab a slender lifeline to their League One status as Austin scored the winner in the 10th minute, which was a re-bounded penalty miss. The first issue in League One was decided at Gigg Lane where Bury were relegated by near neighbours Oldham Athletic. Smith scored the all important goal in the 79th minute to lift the Latics out of the drop zone while condemning cash-strapped Bury to the drop. Bury 24th, Oldham Athletic 20th.
