With a supposed multi-million price tag on his head, fans (I think) were expecting the South African born international to be bagging goals left, right and centre since his arrival in England. The fact that he has just a single goal to his name so far, has been criticised in some quarters.
Speaking on the Rantie's talents, Steve Fletcher went on record as saying in the Bournemouth Evening Echo: "He is a player who is going to get better with time and he is slowly but surely showing the ability that we believe in and that we saw when we scouted him. I read somewhere that he took some time to settle at Malmo. He didn't hit the ground running and bang in loads of goals to start with, he took a bit of time to get established. That is just the way he is as a character. He is a really nice lad, really well spoken and quiet. He has bags of ability and it is going to take time to come into the English league with the demands of the Championship. It is going to take time and work on the training pitch with the manager, JT and the coaching staff. He has to learn the English game and learn to adapt to the way we play as a team. The only way he can get his experience and get better is by playing games. He got his rewards with a fabulous goal at Burnley and, hopefully, that will be the kick-start he needs to grow in confidence. He was never brought in just for his goals. He was brought in because of his team play, his ability on the ball and his creativity as a team player. We think he has got massive potential".
